2007 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES Tracy Long, New Lothrop
Tracy Long, co-Commissioner of the Flint Metro Bowling Conference (now boasting 60 teams) and Head Coach of New Lothrop High School, has been involved with Michigan high school bowling from its inception when the Bowling Center Association of Michigan created the Michigan High School Bowling Conference. She was also instrumental in the formation of the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association and has served as Treasurer since it's formation. While serving as Chairperson for the Education Committee of MHISBCA, Tracy came to the attention of the BCAM and was hired as the Director of Youth Bowler Development and currently trains physical education teachers in the art of bowling instruction in school gymnasiums. Tracy was honored as the Detroit Free Press Coach of the Year in 2004. Her proudest accomplishment is her 23 year marriage to her wonderful husband Mark which graced her with two fine children, Tim and Stephie. Clay Sandberg, Ishpeming
Clay Richard Sandberg, elected as president of UPBA (Upper Peninsula Bowling Association), was instrumental in the founding of Michigan High School Bowling with Michigan High School Bowling Conference founder, Ron Tomassoni. For the past 30 years, he has worked as general manager of four different bowling centers with the last 17 years at Country Lanes in Ishpeming. For 13 years Clay has been coach and instructor to area bowling youth, and the past three years has coached the Ishpeming/Negaunee High School CO-OP boys and girls varsity teams. His teams have won two girls regional titles and qualified all three years in the top eight in the MHSAA State Finals. His boys teams have also made two State Final appearances. Currently residing in Palmer Michigan, Clay has been a life long "yooper" and graduated from Gwinn High School and Northern Michigan University. Clay and his loving wife Donna have three fine children, daughter Heather Rae and stepsons Jason and Kevin Niemi. Tom Stockton, Sterling Heights Stevenson Tom Stockton, Head Coach of Sterling Heights Stevenson since the inauguration of Michigan High School Bowling, has served as Coordinator for the Northeast Division (now the MAC Red) of the Southeastern Michigan High School Bowling Conference for 8 years. He was also instrumental in assisting the Macomb Athletic Conference with its inclusion of bowling. His boys and girls teams have won State titles in both Varsity and Junior Varsity, while his individual athletes in Varsity and Junior Varsity have also won State Singles Titles (the only exception, two runner-up finishes in Varsity Girls Singles). Due to the success of his coaching, many of his athletes have received bowling scholarships to college and won NCAA National Championships. A proud honoree of the first Detroit Free Press Coach of the Year Award, Tom joined the MHISBCA at it's inception as Chairperson for the Awards Committee and activated Awards for All State, All Academic and various Coach Awards. He currently sits on the Executive Board as a Regional Director and serves as a director for the Michigan Junior Varsity and Macomb County High School Bowling Championships. An avid bowler, Tom sports several 300's. He is married to his marvelous wife Cindy and has two fine sons, Thomas and Andrew.
