2-20-08 @ Midnight

The Crystallized G-Force Bowling Ball began to whir with excitement. Another reception was wending its way through the ionosphere toward the Posi-track acceptor embedded deep within the G-Force’s center.  A mere millisecond it took, and then...lo and behold...an emanation spewed forth from its thumb hole depositing a blob of indescribable gelatin. The gelatinous deposit shimmied and shammied itself until it grew boldly into a dark formative shape. The Shadow had once again appeared with news for the hungry eyes:
Without so much as a “Howdy do,” The Shadow announced, “‘Tis time!” When I asked what he meant, he slapped his black cape and spouted, “The Groundhog left me with a proclamation, while he has burrowed deep within the bowels of the earth to rest.” In his hand appeared a scroll, which he held forth with a black force of delight. He smiled as he said, “Would you like to read it, oh wizardly one?”
How could I resist? I grabbed the scroll with eager hands and rolled it out to find:

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Challenge is on! Let there be one who shall be crowned the “Master!” Forever, and from this time henceforth, the person who can PROVE to this lowly creature (the Groundhog) that they are indeed more skilled at predictions than The Shadow, let them step forth! The One who can predict so mightily shall be rewarded a Plaque emblazoned with the inscription, “Master of Darkness!” with The Shadow’s own markings.

The Challenge? Ye must riddle out which teams shall step up and best all others this weekend at the Regional Team Qualifiers for State Finals. There are 18 Regions in all. To make it even easier, ye will only have to pick two teams (choose either Boys or Girls) to make it from each Region. That’s a total of 36 selections. The Bowl Swami picked 25 of 28 last weekend in his challenge. Only one lowly follower dared to challenge such a mighty force, but perhaps The Shadow, when he predicts the Regional Master Challenge, may prove to be an easier foe. Care to try? Simply Email The Shadow your 36 picks, and you’re on! Of course, if ye wish, ye may send both. Each one will be scored separately.
Nearly all of the teams’ statistics can be found within this web site. On the left hand column of this web site ye can find “Info.” Simply scroll down to “
Conferences,” and click on “Standings” and/or “Top Teams” to see some data. The “Tournaments” listing in that same column shows how teams have done battle in elimination competition. This should be an easy task for the likes of some of ye!
Ye shall be apprised of The Shadow's 36 darkened selections tomorrow, before the 4th Poll Rankings is published. Ye will have until Thursday at Midnight to challenge! If ye come back tomorrow looking for more, and cannot find it...Email The Bowl Swami and perhaps he might be inveigled to predict more Singles. If he hears not...so shall it be!

2-19-08 @ Midnight

Chip! Chip! Crack! That is The Shadow efficiently chopping away at the ice coat left upon The Bowl Swami’s attire and his equipment. It was an inconvenience not to be wished upon any soul. The Michigan Junior Varsity Championship held me up from visiting The Shadow, and the ice nearly held up the Swami from visiting the JV tourney. Three deaths, unexpected, have also slowed me down...but, now that the last (crinkle, tinkle, splatter) of the ice shield is gone from my attire and the Crystallized G-Force Bowling Ball, I can once again tune in to the almost unintelligible whisperings of The Shadow. Heed ye to his latest:
In Division 3, the Shadow carved into an icicle - Singles: Jared Miller and Kayla Colesa of Sandusky; Team: Boys, Menominee (Will the nominees step forward?), Girls, Riverview Gabriel Richard (How did Richard get on this Team?).
In Division 2, the Shadow, with his ice pick, scratched out -  Singles: Alex Owens of North Branch and Josie Flanagan of Croswell Lexington; Team: Boys, Ishpeming Negaunee ("thish Ish the team thash gonna make itsh, hic"), Girls, Grand Rapids South Christian (Will send their opponents down South!).
In Division 1, the nebulous dark image, found one more piece of ice on my shoulder, dropped it into a glass of water for himself, took a swallow and gurgled out - Singles: Matt Gossman and Staci Hilliard of Port Huron; Team: Boys, Flint Carman Ainsworth (Opponents have been told, “Ains-worth pickin’ up ya ball, Baby!”), Girls, Walled Lake Central (They girls are Central-ly focused to take it down!).
When The Shadow asked for a slice of lemon to add to his water, and I didn’t have one, he said, “Then, no more...I must be off!” Guess we can only hope he’ll be back tomorrow!

2-16-08 @ 5:00 AM

The Shadow rang me up very early this morning. He had wiggled out of that quicksand somehow. So, I hurried over to meet him before traveling off to the Junior Varsity Championship. He was covered from head to toe with mud and not able to speak without spraying a fine mist of brownly spattered words, yet speak he must of the following:
In Division 3, the mud spelled out - Singles: Kyle Stepke and Kelsie Bates of Napoleon; Team: Boys, Otisville Lakeville (A Vil(l)e contender in competiton!), Girls, Grass Lake (No Grass growing under these girls’ feet!).
In Division 2, the mud on my face, dried, turned into sand and fell to the earth, spelling out  -  Singles: Doug Snyder of Caledonia and Samantha Johnson of Wyoming Rogers; Team: Boys, Grand Rapids West Catholic (Borrowed the Pope to end GR Union’s Perfect Record!”), Girls, Livonia Ladywood (Woodn;t want to go up against these Ladys!).
In Division 1, at last, another rainfall and BS was washed clean, but a puddle of water below my feet contained a reflection of - Singles: Matt Gossman and Staci Hilliard of Port Huron; Team: Boys, Brighton (As I’ve said, they B-right-on!), Girls, Grandville (They can burn the pins in Grand style!).
Would that The Shadow could deliver more, but he had to leave QUICK-ly to take a bath! Travel back this way tomorrow, and ye shall find more...we hope!

2-15-08 @ 3:00 PM

The Shadow said it was raining in the woods, and the soft earth had uncovered a wealth of information. He reached out and shook my hand with his darkened paw, and my hand came away muddy. However, it washed away leaving the following words in blackish-grey:
In Division 3, the mud spelled out - Singles: Mike Goike of Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard and Allie Gustafson of Ewen Trout Creek; Team: Boys, Menominee (a perfect Nominee), Girls, Riverview Gabriel Richard (announced after someone blew a Horn).
In Division 2, the silty stuff revealed -  Singles: Jimmy Ureel of Richmond and Jenelle Farris of Livonia Ladywood; Team: Boys, Ionia (Whose team cry in competition is: “We onia!”) Girls, Grand Rapids South Christian (Whose opponents are in Rapid retreat).
In Division 1, the last traces of dirt formed into - Singles: Mike Erlingis of Novi Detroit Catholic Central and Ashley Cunningham of Dearborn Heights Crestwood; Team: Boys, Flint Carman Ainsworth (Where there’s Flint, there’s fire!), Girls, Walled Lake Central (No Wall-ed flowers here!).
After scrawling these muddy words down for delivery to ye, I turned to beg for more, but The Shadow had sunk deep into the soft earth which had become like quicksand...hmmm...will he return tomorrow? Well, ye will just have to come back and find out!

2-14-08 @ 4:30 PM

While leaning against a snow-laden tree in the woods of Punxsutawney, a slinky Shadow crept into view with HEART-throbbing news. With breathless (but one that emitted a heavy chocolate aroma) abandon, TS spewed forth the following:
In Division 3, With chocolate drooling, The Shadow shouted - Singles: Boys, John Kibby of Burton Bendle and Shayna Zerbe of Traverse City St. Francis; Team: Boys, St. Louis (without the blues), Girls, Lansing Catholic (as preached by the Pope).
In Division 2, TS plucked a misplaced arrow from his shoulder and surrendered -  Singles: A. J. Ward of Ionia and Kaylee Marston of Goodrich; Team: Boys, Mattawan (Mattatwo, Mattathree...go!), Girls, Trenton (Warriors of old meet Warriors of new).
In Division 1, Finally, The Shadow presented me with a Valentine’s Card, that when opened, read - Singles: Will Wortinger of Belleville and Kristen Brewer of Hartland; Team: Boys, Grand Rapids Union (Always wear that label), Girls, Portage Central (A wine with age)!
Then, with sudden swiftness, Mrs. Shadow appeared, grabbed TS’s cloak, and away they scampered into the LOVE-ly woods. More tomorrow, me chocolate-laden followers!

2-13-08 @ Sometime tonight!

Oh so many trials and tribulations come passing our way during these times of high stress...the stress of making it to the Big Dance. The Web Site is sort of back...it is still trying to work toward our original address. It takes 24-48 hours to travel through umpteen million servers out there! But enough of the travails...let’s get on with some predictions, as I dug The Shadow out of his hiding hole:
In Division 3, The Shadow has predicted - Singles: Jason Bean of Saginaw Swan Valley and Jenna Grandy of Birch Run; Team: Boys, Napoleon (on the march), Girls, Tawas Area (Tawas...the night before…).
In Division 2, that inimitable murky blob that follows ye pronounced - Singles: Eric Simone of Kingsford and Brittney Price of Charlotte; Team: Boys, Armada (of ships), Girls, Escanaba (without the moonlight).
In Division 1, the crafty Shadow (sometimes known as Lamont Cranston) enlightened me with - Singles: Matt Woods of Roseville and Lauren Histed of Utica; Team: Boys, Portage Central (somehow off center-al), Girls, Macomb L’Anse Creuse North (they be Creuse-in)!
Now, if the server is nice...er...uh...mebbe that should be, “Nice server...Nice server!...we’ll have more tomorrow on a blessed Valentine's Day!

2-12-08 @ 5:00 PM

It appears The Shadow is buried below along with Punxsutawney Phil, as the Web Site has been down for two days! Maybe tomorrow!

2-11-08 @ 5:00 PM

They say, “When it rains, it pours,” but not in this weather. The Bowl Swami had to chip ice off his computer to get started today! That statement aforementioned, of course, means trouble sometimes pours in on you at a rate too quick too handle. The web site is down and 25-30 Emails have come in, all related to publishing on that site. Numerous coaches have called about that and other problems. But none of that be ye concern. Ye only come to this spot to see what The Shadow has omitted from his last dalliance. So, here is today’s listings:
In Division 3, The Shadow has predicted - Singles: Boys, Steve Elkins of Genesee and Lena Rankin of Freeland; Team: Boys, Iron Mountain, Girls, Madison Heights Bishop Foley.
In Division 2, that inimitable murky blob that, follows ye, pronounced - Singles: Chris Rehn of St. Clair Shores Alexx Yoscovits of Trenton; Team: Boys, Belding, Girls, Battle Creek Pennfield.
In Division 1, the crafty Shadow (sometimes known as Lamont Cranston) enlightened me with - Singles: Josh Harper of South Lyon and Olivia Sikora of Southgate Anderson; Team: Boys & Girls, White Lake Lakeland!
Well, it looks like more ice forming on the computer. Ye shall have to wait until tomorrow for further
Darkened Details from The Shadow!

2-10-08 @ 5:00 PM

The Eisenhower/Utica Doubles was visited early this morning by The Bowl Swami which caused some delay, but it was, once again, The Shadow’s wanderings (some place where “Men Play”) that has caused the major delay. More on that story another time. And again with the carrier pigeon, but this time it was a tape recording on a lanyard around its neck:
In Division 3, while playing the tape, The Shadow screamed over background noise, “Hey, BS, watch out for these!” Singles: The Darga duo of Rogers City, Ryan and Katie; Team: Boys,  Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard, Girls, Saginaw Swan Valley.
In Division 2, Further on the tape the Shadow’s voice was garbled, but by use of the Crystallized BB, The Bowl Swami uncovered - Singles: Cody Wheeler of Marshall and Kara Richard of Tecumseh; Team: Boys, Mt. Morris E A Johnson, Girls, Livonia Clarenceville.
In Division 1, the pigeon chomped on the cassette, it broke in half, but luckily BS recovered the tape and ran it through his BB for this - Singles: Pete Wagner of Berkley and Jamie Zarnick of Walled Lake Central; Team: Boys, Davison, Girls, Port Huron!
As The Bowl Swami continued to listen to the tape, he heard laughing and screams take over the sound track...with only a smitten of the tape revealing The Shadow’s voice gurgle… “BS...I’ll get you more tomorrow...but right now…I just gotta have another….Mountain Dew!”

2-9-08 @ 3:30 PM

The Bowl Swami was in the House at the Heartbreaker Baker. Thus, once again we are late with The Shadow’s utterances. They were sent on a piece of paper by carrier pigeon, but here they are:
In Division 3, The Shadow scribbled, “Keep your eyes on the prize, and watch for these names to attend the “Big Dance!” Singles: Steven Busick of Menominee and Megan Alexsandrowski of Memphis; Team: Boys,  Sandusky, Girls, Ewen Trout Creek.
In Division 2, the Shadow had scratched, almost unintelligibly, but The Bowl Swami was able to decipher - Singles: Zack Cataldo of Marysville and Meagan McEvehney of St. Clair Shores Southlake; Team: Boys, Dearborn Heights Annapolis, Girls, Kingsford.
In Division 1, and although this portion was dampened and stained...by holding it to the light, The Bowl Swami found - Singles: Anthony Radtke of Sterling Heights Ford II and Tori Brown of Highland Milford ; Team: Boys, Howell, Girls, Rockford!
When The Bowl Swami reached for what looked like another piece of paper, but the pigeon flapped his wings and flew away. I guess ye will have to wait until the next day to see whom else may have been inked for eternity!

2-8-08 @ 4:45 PM

Punxsutawney Phil bounced out of his hole today and buried The Shadow. It wasn’t until late afternoon that he was able to dig his way out and rattle off some more Groundhog Predictions.
So, hasten ye eyes to what follows. Here be more pin-appenings of the future:
In Division 3, the Shadow bade we keep our eyes on - Singles: Jason Relitz of East Jackson and Katie King of Genesee; Team: Boys,  Wyoming Godwin Heights, Girls, Durand.
In Division 2, the Shadow dusted off more dirt and exclaimed - Singles: Brandon Blanchard of Warren Lincoln and
Jamie Gipson of Chelsea; Team: Boys, Coldwater, Girls, Wyoming Rogers.
In Division 1, the shadow, removing more dirt spit out - Singles: Alex Drew of Howell and Samantha Deaton of Davison ; Team: Boys, Ann Arbor Pioneer, Girls, Lowell!
The Bowl Swami once again asked for more, but the Shadow barked, “I found that hole so dark and shadowy. I’m going back!” And he quickly dived out of sight. Ye shall have to wait until the  ‘morrow!

2-7-08 @ 8:00 AM

While cranking up the snow blower so as to get to the lanes and uncover more proof, The Shadow appeared with more whisperings. As the wind whistled snow in the face, he uttered these:
Division 3: Singles, Joe Tommasoni of Iron Mountain and Samantha Lytle of Grass Lake; Boys Team, Allen Park Cabrini, Girls Team, Genesee.
Division 2: Singles, Marc Labarge of Mattawan and Nicole Kulju of Ishpeming/Negaunee; Boys Team, Ferndale, Girls Team, Coldwater.
Division 1: Singles, James Koss of Brighton and Addileen Pointer of White Lake Lakeland; Boys Team, Port Huron Northern, Girls Team, Davison.
Once again, I have to rev up the blower and push on...but come back tomorrow for more from that Black Blanket of Bowling!

The Bowl Swami

2-6-08 @ 10:00 AM

Division 1: Singles, Nic Sutherland and Caitlin Coriasso of Grand Blanc; Boys & Girls Teams, Brownstown Woodhaven.
Oops...my fingers keep slipping off these icy keys...more tomorrow.

2-5-07 @ 10:00 AM

The Bowl Swami was absent from the pine-laden world yesterday, as he played host to a crowd of Super Bowl fanatics. Once again, they were offered a chance to uncover the secret ingredient to this year’s Super Bowl Chili. Nary a one could fathom, and not a one from the bowling world knew either. Gaze if ye wish upon the secret: Bowl Swami's 42nd Secret Super Bowl Chili

2-3-08

As promised to ye, the Bowl Swami, aided by The Shadow, predicts yet more pinsters to find their way to States! Hear ye the following:
In Division 3, the Bowl Swami heard from a shadowy shape that in Singles will be found  Joe Tomczak of Allen Park Cabrini and Brittney Rocha of Wyoming Kellogsville; Team, Boys, Hemlock and Girls, Wyoming Kellogsville.
In Division 2, the darkness unveiled that in Singles, Chad Skinner of Pinconning and Courtney Fylling of Bangor John Glenn; Team, Boys, West Branch Ogemaw Heights and Girls, Portland.
In Division 1, a whisper of bowlingese brought forth that in Singles, Andy Teeples of Flint Carman Ainsworth and Jenna Law of Highland Milford; Teams, Boys, Rockford and Girls, Sterling Heights Stevenson.
More tales will follow tomorrow, as today The Bowl Swami prepares his 42nd version of the Super Bowl Chili for 30 invited guests. Last year's
Bowl Swami's Secret Super Bowl Chili had 41 ingredients and a can of Spam (simmered and diced) was the secret ingredient. This year, there are 42. Anyone care to guess this year's secret 42nd ingredient?...just Email The Bowl Swami, and if ye are right, he will send you a polo shirt with the famous Bowl Swami logo.

2-2-08

This time, Punxsutawney Phil found his Shadow this morning and six more weeks of winter has been predicted. However, it is not strange that the Bowl Swami's Shadow could not be found at 7:30 AM, as there were reports he was somewhere beneath a pile of snow...but it was heard The Shadow scoured the multi pines until the wee hours and did uncover a bevy of knowledge to pass on to his constituents.
So, bend ye ears, oh keglers everywhere! The Bowl Swami patiently lent his to the whispered Bowlingese from his Shadow. He cautioned that what was to follow could be told forthwith, but rather in small doses that could safely be swallowed by his followers. Thus, with due respect, the Bowl Swami must reveal the Groundhog Predictions in daily portions. Therefore, ye well-oiled followers of the lanes, ye must come back daily to hear more names such as those that follow.
In Division 3, the Shadow uttered to watch for these to appear in the State Finals - Singles: Drew Bauer of Bay City All Saints and Brittany Potts of Saginaw Swan Valley; Team: Boys,  Jackson Vandercook Lake, Girls, Ithaca.
In Division 2, the dark cloud spoke, along with others to be revealed later, the following - Singles: Jordan Sanker of Dearborn Heights Annapolis and Rebecca Wright of Richmond; Team: Boys, Pinconning, Girls, Tecumseh.
In Division 1, the shadowy form burst forth with - Singles: Eric Loeffler of Sterling Heights and Sara Rawski of Macomb L’Anse Creuse North; Team: Boys, Sterling Heights Ford II, Girls, Taylor Kennedy!
The Bowl Swami could not hold his emotions in place and asked for more, but the Shadow warned, 'tis best to put the pieces together slowly. And so, it shall be. Ye shall hear more after another shadow of the sun has passed. Stay tuned, ye followers of the marble-acious approach, and more Predictions shall be uncovered tomorrow!

2-1-08 @ 10:00 PM

At this time of the year, Punxsutawney Phil annually makes his prediction for Winter. He makes his prediction based on the Shadow that may or may not be seen. If seen, we have six more weeks of winter.
The Bowl Swami also makes predictions at this time of the year. He too has a Shadow! Unlike Phil, the Bowl Swami’s Shadow has the power of intuition and uncanny perceptiveness! He can provide the Bowl Swami, in Bowlingese language, a prophecy of forthcoming events in the Hallowed Halls of High School Bowling Lanes.
Indeed, at 7:30 AM, on February 2, The Shadow of the Bowl Swami will forecast various teams and individuals that should catapult to fame at this year’s Post Season events! He will then whisper in the ear of the Bowl Swami all that shall be revealed. Feast your eyes tomorrow (probably a little later than 7:30 AM) upon what the Shadow may cast! If ye wish to know what his predictions are like, look at last year's (
2007 Groundhog Predictions)...anyone know how many of his predictions came true? Those who can give an accurate number of Teams and Singles shall be blessed with an illustrious award!
