AM The Bowl Swami
The Bowl Swami was swamped with pre-party preparation and guests yesterday. B.
S. could only make two predictions. Once again he prevailed, as the Bumbling
Bears were outwitted by some Clever Colts, making his first prediction fact. His
second prediction involved the
Bowl Swami's Secret Super
Bowl Chili.
As predicted, no one could correctly uncover the secret 41st ingredient. It has
now been revealed! The Bowl Swami As frigid temperatures cancel High School Bowling meets in many areas of the State, the Bowl Swami continues his work. Today, the list grows longer, as the following names are submitted for all to see: Division 3: another All School declaration, Singles, Billy Bessey and Nicole Crabtree of Jackson Vandercook Lake and both the Boys and Girls teams. Division 2: Singles, Ben Cliffton of Otisville Lakeville and Hillery Neff of Lansing Waverly; Boys Team, Chelsea, Girls Team, Clio. Division 1: Singles, Joel Klaas of Port Huron Northern and Molly Valleau of Traverse City West ; Boys Team, Portage Central, Girls Team, Highland Milford. Frigid fingers must take a rest from typing this list until tomorrow. The Bowl Swami While cranking up the oil machine for lane dressing, some more Shadow whisperings came to mind. Hear ye these: Division 3: Singles, Brandon Kirouac, Wyoming Godwin Heights and Heather Kowalski, Rogers City; Boys Team, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard, Girls Team, Portland. Division 2: Singles, Austin Herter, Chelsea and Christie Cooper, Tecumseh; Boys Team, Otisville, Lakeville, Girls Team, Tecumseh. Division 1: Singles, Abed Daher, Brownstown Woodhaven and Kristin Graves, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix; Boys Team, Waterford Mott, Girls Team, Macomb L’Anse Creuse North. The Bowl Swami When you arise at 4:00 AM, and sit in front of a computer until Midnight, a dreary, tiring effect overcomes the spirit. Such was yesterday, so today, a bit of rest was needed. The Bowl Swami did arise until 8:00 AM. Although back on the computer, some work has delayed today's predictions. Yet, here they are the Shadow's foretellings for all to see: Division 3: Singles, Brian Hunt of Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard and Jessica Trombley, Burton Bendle; Boys Team, Parchment, Girls Team, East Jackson. Division 2: Singles, Brian Leyrer of East Lansing and Brittney Patterson of Bangor John Glenn; Boys Team, Lapeer West, Girls Team, Bangor John Glenn. Division 1: Singles, Eric Christensen of Walled Lake Central and Alicia Rakijash of Warren Cousino; Boys Team, South Lyon, Girls Team, Taylor Kennedy. There be a tomorrow...maybe a bit earlier. The Bowl Swami The Bowl Swami apologizes. He shall reveal a double whispering tomorrow, as he had to deal with other matters today. So much to say, so little time to say it! 'Tis a busy time of year for the Bowl Swami. Keep the faith! Golden Pin Contenders, Rankings, Top Scores, Top Teams, Regional Scoring Programs, a Junior Varsity Championship, and someone has to whisper in my ear! So, I owe the faithful following a Double Dose of Dem Whispers: Division 3: Singles, Joe Shadik, Madison Heights Bishop Foley, Alex Followell, Parchment and Ashley Elder, Genesee, Tanya Cullin, Wyoming Kellogsville; Boys Teams, Rogers City and New Haven; Girls Teams, Capac and Sandusky. Division 2: Singles, Scott Wolver of Charlotte, Garrett Gauthier, Lapeer West and Nicole Corstange of Paw Paw, Renee Koll, Grand Rapids South Christian; Boys Teams, Byron Center and Charlotte, Girls Teams, Livonia Clarenceville and Wyoming Rogers. Division 1: Singles, Chad Fox of Holt, Kenny Wichmann of Sterling Heights Utica Ford II and Megan Warner of Grandville, Sasha Hudak of Taylor Kennedy; Boys Teams, Davison and Jackson, Girls Teams, Portage Central and Traverse City West. If ye be reading these postings, and ye thinks some whispers need encouragement, speak ye up! Some of the Shadow's whispers were near unintelligible. While B.S. may take some time to visit the Utica/Eisenhower Doubles tomorrow, he shall be back with further prophecies. Keep ye ears tuned! The Bowl Swami
A few years
back, a young girl attended an Instructional Class by the Bowl Swami. It was set
up through the Utica Community School system. Today, that young girl, Jessica
Dluszinski, now a senior on the Sterling Heights Utica Stevenson Bowling Team,
rolled a 280 game to help herself and long time friend and teammate, Teri
Broughton, roll up a score of 1529 in the Qualifying Round of the
Utica-Eisenhower Invitational Doubles. While the Bowl Swami could not stay for
the entire event (the Ground Hog Predictions was calling him back), Jessie and
Teri, who has been scouted by major colleges, form a bond of friendship while
competing in the sport of bowling. Like the lifetime friendships so many other
student/athletes have experienced in other sports, we now see it happening in
High School Bowling! Division 3: Singles, Dave Pedder of Royal Oak Shrine and Celia Carlson of Iron Mountain; Boys Team, Menominee; Girls Team, New Haven. Division 2: Singles, Ken Aldrich of Caledonia and Heather Sandber of Ishpeming; Boys and Girls Teams of Ishpeming. Division 1: Singles, Nick VanDrunen of Rockford and Noelle Ciesiolka of Sterling Heights Utica Stevenson; Boys Team, Brownstown Woodhaven, Girls Team, Waterford Kettering. And more tomorrow from the Bowl Swami
I suppose you were expecting more Ground Hog stuff today! Not a chance, as the
Bowl Swami and his cohorts, along with The Shadow, produced the new Poll
Rankings for the State. Rankings are similar to predictions but with added
pressure. If a Team is ranked First, they are expected to come out on top at the
State Finals. Adversely, the Ground Hog Predictions only indicate which Teams
are believed, by the Shadow and his crew, to make it to the State Finals. Many
of those Teams predicted are, of course, listed in today's
MHSIBCA 3rd Poll Team Rankings. The Bowl Swami While more winter storms try to break through the shadowy predictions of the Ground Hog's Shadow, we give you one more taste of the whisperings. Today will be the last of the Shadow's Team prophecies, but he may still have some more singular hopefuls to display. Hearken ye to these: Division 3: Singles, Kyle McCambridge of Wyoming Godwin Heights and Brittany Rief of Wyoming Kellogsville; Boys Team, Traverse City St. Francis, Girls Team, Ewen Trout Creek. Division 2: Singles, Greg VanOrman of Chelsea and Cassie Goodwin of Wayland; Boys Team, Jackson Lumen Christi, Girls Team, Lansing Waverly. Division 1: Singles, Stuart Leser of Waterford Mott and Samantha Stolnicki of Clarkston; Boys Team, Warren De LaSalle, Girls Team, Warren Cousino. More tales tomorrow. The Bowl Swami
Happy Valentines Day! If you haven't seen the Valentines Card sent to all
coaches and athletes, click here:
Bowl Swami Valentines Card. At this time of the year particularly, all
coaches should remind their athletes to keep their heart in the game, but toss
love out of their minds, when in competition. Read Bowl
Swami's Coaching Tip #2 for more info on that. The Bowl Swami
Well, many the hearts that were broken, if they didn't receive a Valentines
Cards from someone they loved yesterday. However, Bowl Swami sends his
Love...and also sends the hushed tones of the Shadow: In Region 18, Girls Teams,
East Jackson will rise to the pressure and prevail...sailing on to the State
Finals!
While all of ye visiting this spot think of the predictions for the Varsity
State Finals, it has come to pass that High School Bowling is the only varsity
sport that features a premiere event for the Junior Varsity Division. Tomorrow
and Sunday will see 43 High Schools dueling for the right to be called the
State's best in the 8th Annual Michigan Junior Varsity Championship. The Shadow
has made some predictions for this year's event: The Bowl Swami The Bowl Swami has to leave early in the morning to meet with the Shadow and his cohorts at the Michigan Junior Varsity Championship. He will be busy Saturday and Sunday managing this event. More Ground Hog Predictions will be forthcoming, but maybe not until Monday! Stay tuned to see if his predictions hold true for the Teams predicted yesterday. As Howell's Boys Team will not be in competition on Sunday, the Shadow whispered that Sterling Heights Ford II will have the power to make it! The Bowl Swami Well, methinks the Bowl Swami heard right the first time, as the Howell Boys Team found an opening and will be competing in the MJVC. We shall see if they can prove the prediction true. Again, it was a long day for Groung Hog Crew, and it is almost Midnight for this post. We will have some fine predictions for Varsity on Monday Keep the Faith! The Bowl Swami
What? Is this another late edition? Yes, it is! The Bowl Swami has been deluged
with details and Emails and such from the Michigan Junior Varsity Championship
that saw the first 300 Baker Game ever rolled by a Junior Varsity Team in
Michigan. And, lo and behold, while the Shadow predicted the Boys team of Macomb
L'Anse Creuse North, and they won the Big (Jr.) Dance, the Girls team of Lake
Orion was not even uttered by the Shadow. The Bowl Swami
The days ahead are like a lull before the storm. The more determined athletes
have a quiet demeanor as they zero in on their objective. If coached properly,
they realize bragging and predicting success are not a part of the
Game Plan Focus. Those teams who can capture the
essence the Lake Orion Girls' Junior Varsity (2007 MJVC Champion) or the Warren
De LaSalle Boys Varsity (2006 Division 1 Champion) who quietly strolled in,
almost unnoticed, and won their Championships, will have the advantage. Indeed,
several coaches have stated they would rather not be picked by others. They
would like to be under the radar when entering for game day. However, the Shadow
must have his say, and thus....here ye be! In Region 3 the Lake Orion Girls
Varsity Team shall not go unnoticed! The Bowl Swami
So, all right all ready, I owe you an earlier edition. Here is one, because the
Bowl Swami must, once again, travel tomorrow (yes, it's for High School
Bowling). Hopefully, y'all have read yesterday's
Nutrition Coaching Tip, and now, coaches, take a look at today's
Coaching Tip #4, before putting your ear to the
computer screen for the Shadow's whispers. Okay, Smiley Faces (as long as it's
not competition day), here is the latest from The Greatest....The Shadow!
The challenge has been made! The Bowl Swami is taking $500 smackeroos out of his
own pocket and donating it to the MHSIBCA Scholarship Fund. Be there any out
there who would like to add something to the Bowl Swami's pot toward the Fund,
speak ye up! Just drop me a line: Bowl Swami.
Just watch out for a special page to be dedicated soon! The Bowl Swami
To all coaches: Remember, in the heart of all athletes is the desire to win a
seat to the State Finals. Some may not "Live the Dream" of making it, as that
requires shutting down many of life's temptations. That does not mean they have
no desire. May you guide them wisely on that path. The Bowl Swami There were no "Dreams" crushed yesterday, as it were not the Team Event. While it is unique to hold a title of "Champion" within our sport, it is the championship that can embrace our fellow teammates that is most coveted. "Let me wear a jacket that I can share!" says the Bowl Swami. Best of luck to all on that pathway most coveted. The Bowl Swami |
