MHSIBCA Weekend Update #1
Weekend Update – 9-13-09
New Bowling Season Begins
Welcome to the first edition of the MHSIBCA weekend updates for the 2009-2010 season. I would like to start this mailing off by introducing myself. My name is Rob Ploof and I will be the new webmaster for the MHSIBCA website. The Bowl Swami (Harry Burkey) has decided to retire and he has passed this job off to me. I am entering my 5th year of coaching high school bowling for the Flint Kearsley girls bowling team. I have 2 daughters who are bowlers and with my youngest just starting 6th grade I am planning on being involved with high school bowling (God willing) for several more years. I want to take this opportunity to thank Harry for all of the work he has done over the years to help make high school bowling in Michigan great. His work on the website was also endless. With that being said, I am not a Bowl Swami and I don’t have the time to do some of the things he was doing on the website. I will do my best to spread the word on all the important news for high school bowling and I will be updating the website regularly. If you have ideas for the website or you see something that is not correct, please send me an e-mail and we will fix it as soon as possible.
New President Takes Over:
With the retirement of the Bowl Swami we also now have a new President. Your new President for the 2009-2010 season is Debbie Alexander. Debbie is the Co-Commissioner of the Flint Metro Bowling Conference (60+ teams), she has been involved with Michigan high school bowling for over 12 years. She has worked at Richfield Bowling Center in Flint in numerous positions, while assuming the duties of 2nd Vice President of MHSIBCA for the last three years. She has tirelessly promoted high school bowling in the Flint area, enlisting coaches and scheduling events and tryouts for eight high schools. Please check out the updated board of directors for the upcoming season on the website by clicking the link in this mailing or click the board of directors link on the website.
Website Updated:
For those coaches who have not visited the website recently, please check it out. I am in the process of updating the look of it. It will still have all of the information that Harry was posting, it might just look a little different. The top logo has been changed and the links are being moved to the top of the page. I will still post new links in the middle of the page just as Harry was doing.
2009-2010 Coaching Association Application:
The application for the 2009-2010 MHSIBCA Coaching Association is now available on the website. A few changes are the background check form that must be submitted with the application and the address to send the form to. The cost is once again $35 this season until 12-31-09. After this date the cost is $50. You must be a member of the coaching association to submit scores for your bowlers for any type awards. Once your application has been received and accepted the coach list will be updated on the website. As of this mailing, 28 out of the 320 coaches have submitted their applications for this season. Any questions about this should be e-mailed to Tracy Long.
2009-2010 Tournament Listings:
The tournament listings for the 2009-2010 are available on the website. PLEASE NOTE: TOURNAMENTS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE MHSIBCA HAVE NO CONTACT INFORMATION. THE CONTACT INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED WHEN THE TOURNAMENT DONATION INVOICE AND THE TOURNAMENT GUIDELINE FORMS ARE RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED! All tournament information needs to be sent to Dave Kowalski. Any tournaments that have not submitted information for the 2009-2010 season by November 1st, 2009 will be removed from the website.
Next update will be sent out September 27th
